Wow ! What an experience, let me tell you about my inscredible latest days !
D’Day minus 6
After the day of travel and a beautiful tourist day rich in emotions,
It’s time to get the bike out of its box and get back on the saddle.
• Tuesday morning :
Bike unpacked and adjusted, here I was discovering first race kilometers north on the shores of the Hudson River .
And guess what ? NY surroundings are really far from “flat”, which didn’t disappointing me at all !
I was enthralled crossing a bit of wild but so quiet nature so close to New york City meeting squirrels and deers, passing by just in front of me !
• Wednesday thursday
Cool training, to find the racing rhythm and visit an other part beyond the city, crossing typical American villages Houses remind me movie scenes !
D’Day minus 3
• Friday
Last ride before big day on Sunday !
I followed the same roads and met a lot of cyclists coming from different countries all around the world : China, Japan, Mexico or Colombia.
We could already feel the competition vibes.
I met a cyclist from Brooklyn and immediately sympathized with him. We decide to ride together direction north and Bear Moutain, one of the hills we will climb on Sunday.
Approaching Bear Mountain, terrain becomes quite mountainous. From this moment I knew the race will be difficult offering very few flat parts and that was not displeasing me !
After a 7 kms ascending road, we riched the top of the hill. As far as one can see there is hills covered by forrest. You would think that you are in the Vosges !
On our way back to the hotel with my fellow rider, I took the opportunity to discover his bike shops where I dropped some HaasCycling business cards of course !
